Moderate physical activity is one of the best things you can do to assure healthy aging. Physical activity has been proven to prevent age-related diseases, increase energy, improve sleep quality and maintain a healthy weight. Contrary to what you may have heard, partaking in safe fitness activities and exercise as you get older won’t strain your body or do your body harm. In fact, without regular physical activity, your body tends to grow weaker in four areas that are essential to everyday living—strength, balance, flexibility and endurance—which makes daily activities and self-care necessary for maintaining independence more difficult.
If you think starting a fitness routine may be difficult, or you don’t know where to start, you’re not alone. At Sun Health Wellness, our exercise physiologists and personal trainers work with you to create a personalized plan that make adding fitness into your current lifestyle clear and easy.
Fitness Consultations
Our fitness consultations are individualized appointments to evaluate your fitness level and make personal recommendations. During a fitness consultation, we will review your exercise history, food preferences and current activities.
Using evidence-based guidelines, your health coach will work with you to develop an exercise program and fitness plan designed to improve your fitness level, based on your specific needs, goals or health conditions. All suggested exercises are explained thoroughly and demonstrated, and you will receive detailed take-home materials to help you replicate the exercises at home or at a fitness center.
An initial exercise consultation is typically 60 minutes in length. Follow-up appointments of 45 minutes may be scheduled to review goals and adjust exercises as needed.
